I am informed that we usually recommend an upgrade to address such issues as we are reluctant to backport nonfree firmware too far in order to keep from introducing regressions. So this should not be an issue in the latest release with non free firmware package included. I've updated the machine as of *now* and the issue still exists. I tried using kernel 2.6.34-020634rc1-generic #020634rc1 SMP Tue Mar 9 10:59:29 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux but that one doesnt seem to have a rtl8192 driver either. Looking at realteks homepage I cant find a download for the chipset that supports kernel 2.6.32 and up either. @Andreas Berger I checked the mainline build deb. rtl8192e is in the staging tree but the staging tree is not built. rtl8192e driver got into the kernel after 2.6.31, so it's not included in karmic. You can try some newer version of mainline builds to see if the wireless driver works. I use Ubuntu 9.04 (because it is the Netbook-Remix-version) I recommend not to install this version until next Netbook-Remix is released. A brainiac fixed my stuff using this: http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/answers/Networking/NdiswrapperHowToforSuSE9 together with some drivers from the CD that came with the computer. He found the winXP drivers for my realtek-card through the XML-file. A littlebit buggy but I managed quite well. Then I was stupid enough to update to 9.10 and decided to reinstall to 9.04 and of course it all disappeared. I've tried with a Xubuntu 9.04 updated as of today and it did not work.
