Hi zasq, This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux 393095 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. [This is an automated message. [Bug 393095] Re: USB-Printer (and other usb-devices) error after upgrade to 2.6.28-13-generic kernel/alsa-driver-linuxant messes up usb
Last comment, hopefully: The soundsystem installed with kernel 2.6.28-13-generic is the alsa-driver 1.0.20, while the older kernel still uses an older alsa-version, which as far as I know didn't break the usb-devices. So maybe the developers of alsa have to work together with those colleagues who work on the kernel, who try to find a solution to the errors with usb-devices (error -110) etc. That one might be regression anyway, the last time I had this kind of problem with usb-devices was with gutsy or hardy. Thank you everybody for looking into this. In a german speaking ubuntu-forum I found many more who also experience these problems with the new kernel. -- USB-Printer (and other usb-devices) error after upgrade to 2.6.28-13-generic kernel/alsa-driver-linuxant messes up usb https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/393095 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Okay, after all it seems to be a bug in alsa-driver. I suggest to continue this here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/395012 (For me, the solution was to install alsa-driver-linuxant, but for all those who don't want to install a proprietary driver it would be great if a solution is found).
