I am also experiencing this issue. I have configured proxy settings for
Internet access at work, but Firefox 3.5 (final release) ignores my
GNOME settings, forcing me to configure Firefox separately. This is very
frustrating.

I'm not certain this bug is simply a duplicate. The linked bug was first
reported in 2005 and I don't recall having issues with Firefox 3.0 and
proxy settings (even if it didn't fetch them from Gconf as it ought to).
This, however, is completely broken.
