Can you please test this in the latest version of Ubuntu, Hardy Heron, to see if its still a problem? -- kernel panic at boot, 64-bit version https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/39553 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 39553] Re: kernel panic at boot, 64-bit version
I am using a Tyan Thunder s2895 MOBO. I can use Feisty 64-bit, and Gutsy 32-bit just fine, however Gutsy 64-bit does a Kernel panic at boot. So the problem is in the 64-bit code base of the newer kernels. I have tried all the way up to 2.6.23.8. -- kernel panic at boot, 64-bit version https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/39553 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I tried the acpi and pci=nommconf options. They did not work for me. -- kernel panic at boot, 64-bit version https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/39553 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 39553] Re: kernel panic at boot, 64-bit version
did you performed an Upgrade? If so try using 2.6.22-15 version of the kernel. The default boot still stays the same as before upgrade (2.6.22-14). This will solve problem if you are using less the 4GB. With 4 GB or more . then the possibility is with device drivers for some of your hard ware. [Bug 39553] Re: kernel panic at boot, 64-bit version
I have exactly the same problem as Teo, and the pci=nommconf fix works for me too. (Thanks!) I'm running an up-to-date Dapper (as of June 22, 2006) on a custom-built desktop pc with an Intel 64bit Pentium 4 CPU. If I replace the 2.6.15-25 kernel with 2.6.15-10 the boot-time kernel panic goes away. All newer kernels listed by grub fail.
