[Bug 39553] Re: kernel panic at boot, 64-bit version

2007-11-25 Thread kpaden
I am using a Tyan Thunder s2895 MOBO. I can use Feisty 64-bit, and Gutsy
32-bit just fine, however Gutsy 64-bit does a Kernel panic at boot. So
the problem is in the 64-bit code base of the newer kernels. I have
tried all the way up to 2.6.23.8.

I tried the acpi and pci=nommconf options. They did not work for me.

Re: [Bug 39553] Re: kernel panic at boot, 64-bit version

2007-11-25 Thread Bhuvan
did you performed an Upgrade? If so try using 2.6.22-15 version of the
kernel. The default boot still stays the same as before upgrade (2.6.22-14).
This will solve problem if you are using less the 4GB. With 4 GB or more .
then the possibility is with device drivers for some of your hard ware.

Hi Bjarte, good to know that others experience the same problem as well.
This way that bug will get attention and might finally get confirmed
status.

2006-06-22 Thread Bjarte M . Østvold
I have exactly the same problem as Teo, and the pci=nommconf fix works
for me too. (Thanks!)

I'm running an up-to-date Dapper (as of June 22, 2006) on a custom-built
desktop pc with an Intel 64bit Pentium 4 CPU.
If I replace the 2.6.15-25 kernel with 2.6.15-10 the boot-time kernel panic
goes away. All newer kernels listed by grub fail.

Here's my hardware spec (partly in Norwegian--sorry, but should be
understandable):

2006-06-22 Thread Bjarte M . Østvold
Sorry, a typo in my previous post regarding the version number of the
latest working kernel. Correction:

f I replace the 2.6.15-25 kernel with 2.6.12-10 the boot-time kernel
panic goes away. All newer kernels listed by grub fail.
