I can confirm this issue. Using Xubuntu Karmic, updated as of 2009-07-11, gnumeric will not load or display any data. When loading an existing speadsheet, it will maintain the cell formatting, including row heights, colors, column width. It simply displays nothing. I attempted to load clicking on the .gnumeric files and by opening gnumeric and using File - Open.
