Please close this bug. It does not accurately represent my problem. My debugging was faulty. The problem is not the 0000usepeerdns script - it is indeed correct as packaged. The problem is that when the ppp interface is started from /etc/network/interfaces, the USEPEERDNS variable is not passed to the script properly, unlike when starting the ppp daemon via pon. I'll file a separate bug for this error. My apologies.
