[Bug 399745] Re: desktop missing a part of screen
We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Expired -- desktop missing a part of screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/399745 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 399745] Re: desktop missing a part of screen
[This is an automatic notification.] Hi David, This bug was reported against an earlier version of Ubuntu, can you test if it still occurs on Lucid? Please note we also provide technical support for older versions of Ubuntu, but not in the bug tracker. Instead, to raise the issue through normal support channels, please see: http://www.ubuntu.com/support If you are the original reporter and can still reproduce the issue on Lucid, please run the following command to refresh the report: apport-collect 399745 If you are not the original reporter, please file a new bug report, so we can work with you as the original reporter instead (you can reference bug 399745 in your report if you think it may be related): ubuntu-bug xorg If by chance you can no longer reproduce the issue on Lucid or if you feel it is no longer relevant, please mark the bug report 'Fix Released' or 'Invalid' as appropriate, at the following URL: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/399745 ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Tags added: needs-retested-on-lucid-by-june -- desktop missing a part of screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/399745 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 399745] Re: desktop missing a part of screen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this bug as a bug in xserver-xorg-video-ati. When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's "Help -> Report a Problem" menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. ** Package changed: ubuntu => xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) -- desktop missing a part of screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/399745 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 399745] Re: desktop missing a part of screen
It appears as if part of the system thinks the screen is only 1680x1050 big. Here is for example the ouput of synergy client: INFO: synergyc.cpp,716: Synergy client 1.3.1 on Linux 2.6.28-13-generic #45-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jun 30 22:12:12 UTC 2009 x86_64 DEBUG: CXWindowsScreen.cpp,847: XOpenDisplay(":0.0") DEBUG: CXWindowsScreenSaver.cpp,339: xscreensaver window: 0x DEBUG: CXWindowsScreen.cpp,117: screen shape: 0,0 1680x1050 (xinerama) DEBUG: CXWindowsScreen.cpp,118: window is 0x0364 DEBUG: CScreen.cpp,38: opened display NOTE: synergyc.cpp,330: started client Then it works also on the mentioned part of the screen. ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: Incomplete => New -- desktop missing a part of screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/399745 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 399745] Re: desktop missing a part of screen
> Is this reproducible? I'm not sure. Today I booted, logged in and tehre it was again. Steps: this is what I did today: - dock the laptop - boot Windows XP - restart - boot Ubuntu - on the login screen (which appears in mirrored mode, same image on both monitors) I enter user/pass - the desktop appears on both monitors, with the bug again I'll post logs and config files. -- desktop missing a part of screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/399745 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 399745] Re: desktop missing a part of screen
Another weird thing. For some reason I rebooted, and after that the screen was in mirror mode again. I changed it to two screens and see the wonder, now the above problem is not present. I guess a reboot cures everything...
