Thanks. But this time I am a xubuntu-user. :-)

> Are you sure the two issues are related? Have you experienced this
multiple times?

No. I just have tried it and was unable to reproduce it. Sorry this was my
mistake.
(I have misunderstood a forum comment about this topic when I was searching for
a solution to restore the bars.)

The bug seems to occur sporadic. Is there already a valid bug report
filed?

If yes we should set this one to "Invalid".

** Summary changed:

- sudo shutdown -h now: No upper and lower bars after reboot
+ Upper and lower bars sporadically disappear after reboot and have to be
restored by command line

** Description changed:

After rebooting with "sudo shutdown -r now" (or -h) the upper and lower
bars of the Xfce desktop do not appear!

  The user has to
  - press ALT+F2
  - enter "xfce4-panel &"

in order to restore the bars.

  (Bug found on Xubuntu Jaunty.)
+
+ EDIT:
+ The bug appears sporadically and has nothing to with the "shutdown" command.

Nice username :P

Are you sure the two issues are related? Have you experienced this
multiple times? It is a known issue that the panels disappear [1], but
has never been linked to shutting down with that command.

[Bug 403604] Re: sudo shutdown -h now: No upper and lower bars after reboot

2009-07-23 Thread Philip Muskovac
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this
bug as a bug in xfce4-panel.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the
appropriate application's "Help -> Report a Problem" menu or using
'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more
about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Also please note that it is considered rude behaviour to confirm your
own bugs so please don't do that. I'll reset the status to New.
