Could you test the latest 2.6.31-5 kernel and see if it resolves your
issue reported here?  Bug 395565 has positive feedback with this newer

same issue here. i had to revert to an older kernel to write this.

Although it now works, the overall behavior is very odd:

now and then either it disconnects or it just waits a couple of seconds,
as if the DNS resolution doesn't work, respectively a wrong server is
being used at first and afterwards the correct one -which is clearly not
the case (/etc/resolv.conf points only to my router)
