2010-09-11 Thread seasoned_geek
I provided all information that was requested at the time. I received a big
shrug in response.

Under AMD 64-bit 10.04 the problem has been masked because now all non-Linux
partitions show up in Dolphin as drive icons using the partition label for a
name.

Re: [Bug 409039] Re: [Karmic] Cannot change drive mount points

2010-09-11 Thread seasoned_geek
Well, I can tell you that in 10.04 KUbuntu there is no way in God's green
earth for MountManager to do this. See attached image.

See the column along the left hand side. See the bottom where you see icons
for drive_d and FreeDos. Those are the actual partition labels.

In 9.10 you did not get icons along the left, but were given actual entries
under Root. See image 2 to see what appears under root now...nothing.

I don't wish to sound snitty, but please quick hurling stuff against the wall
and hoping for something to stick. If you want to fix the problem in 9.10 then
fix it, otherwise, the drive mapping has so completely changed in 10.04 LTS
that the only way to change the mount point is to change the partition label
and reboot.

The mount points aren't even visible in 10.04 LTS. They appear as drive icons
using the volume/partition labels, you can't change anything.

Hello seasoned_geek

Are you meaning that during a graphical installation of ubuntu there's no way
to came back ?
Or this was a problem relating to this 'alpha' ?

Re: [Bug 409039] Re: [Karmic] Cannot change drive mount points

2010-08-18 Thread seasoned_geek
In the previous release, in Dolphin, when you went to root you so actual mount
points in the window for DOS and DRIVE_D. The point labeled DOS was actually
the freeDOS partition on that drive. I was trying to change it to DRIVE_C so
it would match the other entry.

Under 10.04 you do not see these mount points in the root window. See
attached image for how they appear now.

[Bug 409039] Re: [Karmic] Cannot change drive mount points

2009-09-08 Thread seasoned_geek
Jonathan,

I took the time today to install MountManager and try it. This product
has some serious problems.

1) Wouldn't let me key in a new mount point. I had to manually create
a /drive_c directory, then select that directory as a mount point.

2) Somehow it changed the settings on /drive_d to not automatically
mount. I now have to manually click on it and provide the root
password.

3) It left the /dos directory sitting out there and useless.

4) drive_d can only be accessed once now. A second, or additional
invocation of Dolphin shows an empty screen.

5) trying to fix the problem with /drive_d created /media/DRIVE_D as
well, both pointing to the same place.

I'm completely petrified to nuke the /dos directory because I cannot be
certain that still isn't the real mount point.
