It set it back to auto assignment through DHCP, and it is working again. It's fixed for me, but the original reporter should probably confirm it as well. unmarking duplicate. I experience the same bug, but the work around at bug 407648 did not work for me. apt-get purge network-manager and reinstall did not work.
