No, everything's running perfectly well in Lucid. On Mon, Aug 16, 2010 at 11:58 AM, Fabio Marconi marconifa...@hotmail.itwrote: Hello Dar Austin Zaccaro. Status in The Linux Mint Distribution: Incomplete Status in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: All versions of Linux mint 7 and all Jaunty derivatives' input fails. The problem occurs on attempting to boot Mint 7 KDE, and inevitably occurs on other distributions after a random amount of time. The problem does not lie in Xorg as I cannot switch to a virtual terminal. This is not a kernel panic-- processes continue to run. I cannot post a `dmesg` as I have no way of entering the command. [Bug 412274] Re: Input Freezes in Jaunty (Not Xorg)
Thank you for reporting a bug in Linux Mint. Unfortunately I cannot reproduce your problem, so it's likely that you've changed something as root (using sudo) that has messed up your configuration. If you can reproduce the bug in a fresh install (probably a virtual machine, or a new user account) then please detail the steps necessary, including any extra software you added. Please also check out the Linux Mint Forums, where there are many more people available to help out with diagnosing any problems you have. You might also like to check out this article: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html This is a standard response, so it may not be entirely appropriate. Additionally, this sounds like a hardware problem, so more info on that would be useful. Have you tried booting into recovery/safe mode which should allow you to diagnose the problem, and allow you to get the output of the inxi -F hardware info command too. ** Changed in: linuxmint Status: New = Incomplete -- Input Freezes in Jaunty (Not Xorg) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/412274 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 412274] Re: Input Freezes in Jaunty (Not Xorg)
Thanks for the helpful article link. I'm certain that the bug is not particular to Linux Mint-- since this version of Linux Mint is based from Ubuntu Jaunty (which also has the same issue). All other versions of Ubuntu and Mint run fine (except for smaller bugs which I need not get into). My hardware is a stock Dell Vostro 1520 Laptop. The issue appears on both i386 and 64-bit versions. When this occured in mint, I hadn't even installed it yet-- I was still running off of the liveUSB. while with Jaunty I am able to at least install the OS, but the problem invariably occurs later on (the next day at most). My only solution to this problem is to reboot dozens of times and hope that my computer doesn't lock up one of those times, but then it occurs again. I do not think that this is a hardware issue since I seem to be able to run every other release fine-- I'm typing this from Karmic 9.10 and mostly everything is running great. I've heard of other people having this same issue and mistaking it for a Kernel Panic and blaming the issue on Compiz-- but to no avail. It cannot be Compiz because I'm using it right now on Karmic-- and I don't think (I may be mistaken) that Mint KDE uses Compiz. But the description of their problem matched mine exactly (I cannot seem to find the forum post for the life of me). I hope this is a bit more clear. -- Input Freezes in Jaunty (Not Xorg) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/412274 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
