[Bug 420512] Re: Karmic: CRITICAL ERROR: Ubuntu kills MacBook Pro display!

2010-04-06 Thread jamie Ell
I also had this issue with Ubuntu 9.10 x64, the internal display is
killed. Whenever I try to boot up the Ubuntu partition it displays
screen sequences of red, blue, green, white and colored grey scale
lines. An external display works fine however.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. If you could test the
current Ubuntu development version, this would help us a lot. If you can
test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could
upload updated logs by running apport-collect bug #, and any other
logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

I've confirmed that this is not a problem on a MacBook 1,1 using the
kernel Linux Macintel 2.6.31-20-generic

[Bug 420512] Re: Karmic: CRITICAL ERROR: Ubuntu kills MacBook Pro display!

2010-03-13 Thread Jeremy Foshee
Hi oss_test_launchpad,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a
Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically
gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 420512

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your
results.

Thanks in advance.

[This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this
bug as a bug in PKGNAME.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the
appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using
'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more
about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

** Package changed: ubuntu = xserver-xorg-video-nv (Ubuntu)

[Bug 420512] Re: Karmic: CRITICAL ERROR: Ubuntu kills MacBook Pro display!

2009-08-28 Thread oss_test_launchpad
Just tried this:

1. Switched off machine.
2. Disconnected AC power and removed the battery.
3. Pressed On/Off switch for 5 seconds.
4. Put in battery, re-connected AC power.
5. Pressed On/Off in order to restart machine.

This was recommended on
http://www.computerbase.de/forum/showthread.php?t=469371 in order to
perform a PMU reset.

This procedure had no effect.

Also performed a PRAM reset by pressing Apple key + Alt + P + R when
starting up until the startup could be heard a second time - no effect.
