Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apport
I can't say for how long this problem occurs, but since some weeks reporting crashes in kde (running up to date karmic) does not work anymore. When an application crashes, apport pops up and asks if I want to send a crash report. When I agree, it collects data about the crash and asks me again if I want to send the report. Normally, the browser would open a little later, opening launchpad. But this does not work anymore - just nothing happens. The apport process stays in memory. After some time, there are more and more apport-kde processes, e.g. after about 5h uptime: 1000 4311 0.0 2.7 441932 84652 ? S 17:56 0:02 /usr/bin/python /usr/share/apport/apport-kde 1000 4322 0.0 1.3 262188 41712 ? S 17:56 0:00 /usr/bin/python /usr/share/apport/apport-kde 1000 4412 0.0 1.3 262180 41712 ? S 18:00 0:00 /usr/bin/python /usr/share/apport/apport-kde I tried to find out with strace what these processes are doing: Process 4311 attached - interrupt to quit restart_syscall(<... resuming interrupted call ...> It only helps to kill these processes with pkill. ** Affects: apport (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- apport-kde hangs - reporting crashes stopped working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/425384 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
