I'm using ca_ES locale. And yes, pango is disabled by default, because it's much slower. There was a discussion about pango in Firefox: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/32561 Now I've just tested Firefox and has the same problem, so maybe this is the bug source. And the same workaround applies: when using pango backend (MOZ_DISABLE_PANGO=0 firefox) fonts are choosen correctly. /usr/share/gconf/schemas/epiphany-pango.schemas sets false for /schemas/apps/epiphany/web/enable_pango the majority of locales. Which locales are you using? I also suffer this bug in Edgy, epiphany 2.16.1-0ubuntu2. I created a new user to try the default configuration and the bug it's still here. However, I've found a workaround: activate pango renderer gconf key: /apps/epiphany/web/enable_pango . Then all fonts are properly shown.
