There is another workaround that also fixes the many KDE3 programs that don't show toolbar button icons under KDE4. Locate the current theme's index.theme file (e.g., /usr/share/icons/nuvola/index.theme). In the [Icon Theme] section look for an Inherits key: Inherits=hicolor (the part after the equal sign may be different). If the line doesn't exist, add it somewhere in that section. This fixes the KDE3 issue. If the line does exist, or if you just added it, add gnome to the line: Inherits=hicolor, gnome Restart padevchooser and you'll have icons.
