[Bug 432211] Re: rt2860sta driver not working with network manager

2010-06-03 Thread Gadget3000
I've just filed a similar bug (but for maverick) and fix at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/589342
Basically blacklist modules rt2800pci, rt2800lib, rt2x00pci, rt2x00lib and
rt2x00usb and restart either the rt2860sta module or the computer.

[Bug 432211] Re: rt2860sta driver not working with network manager

2010-05-28 Thread Eugene Seppel
I've got the same problem too. It's realy critical.
I can't connect with my Asus EeePC 1000H (RaLink RT2860) rt2860sta.ko driver
(kernel version 2.6.32-21-generic Lucid 10.04) to 802.11g WPA2-PSK-TKIP+CCMP
network (Asus WL-500Gp access point). (neither from network manager nor from
command line)
On same system but with Broadcom usb wifi adapter all works fine.
On same hardware but with Ubuntu 9.10/8.04, Debian 5.0 all works fine too.

Network settings:
iface wlan0_home inet dhcp
wpa-driver wext
wpa-ssid cisco
wpa-ap-scan 1
wpa-proto RSN
wpa-pairwise CCMP
wpa-group CCMP
wpa-key-mgmt WPA-PSK
wpa-psk *

[Bug 432211] Re: rt2860sta driver not working with network manager

2010-04-07 Thread GemNEye
@bomagainpenguin -- Have you tried to manually configure wireless
adapter using iwconfig command from a shell prompt? I have not tried
Lucid yet, but that has worked for me on several other distros including
different flavors of Ubuntu. Once the connection is established the
first time, subsequent connections are automatically established via
network manager. Not a fix, but possibly a work-around.

Problem persists in both Karmic and Lucid for me on my eeepc 901 Linux.
Would really really be nice to see this fixed in time for Lucid's final
release.

[Bug 432211] Re: rt2860sta driver not working with network manager

2009-10-07 Thread GemNEye
I manually used the iwconfig command to set key and essid.

Next I configured a connection using network manager. This time the
connection was made, and was asked for password to keyring/kdewallet.

Now, the connection is automatically made with no interaction (In both
Ubuntu Netbook Remix and Kubuntu Netbook) between reboots.

2009-10-02 Thread GemNEye
The problem still exists in Karmic Kubuntu Netbook. The rt2860sta
module is loaded, but a connection to the WEP network can not be made
via the KDE network manager.

[Bug 432211] Re: rt2860sta driver not working with network manager

2009-09-30 Thread GemNEye
The daily build from 2009-09-29 will not even boot on my MSI Wind U100
(from USB thumb drive). I have tried several options in creating the
flash drive (usb creator, unetbootin, fusbi, manually copying the files,
etc) and have even tried to boot in safe graphics mode, but the furthest
I can get is the system hanging just like mentioned above. The first
.WAV sound is played and the animation of the Ubuntu spotlight
screen stops and the system stops with just the sportlight screen.

2009-09-30 Thread GemNEye
The 2009-09-30 Live Karmic Netbook Remix does boot into the Gnome
remix desktop. From the network manager, a WEP encrypted connection
CAN be made using the rt2860sta module on a MSI Wind U100 netbook.

2009-09-29 Thread Bryan Wu
Can you confirm this issue exists with the most recent Karmic Koala 9.10
Alpha release? ISO CD images are available at
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic/ . If the issue remains with
Karmic it would be great to then also test the latest upstream mainline
kernel available. This will allow additional upstream developers to
examine this issue. Refer to
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Thanks in advan

[Bug 432211] Re: rt2860sta driver not working with network manager

2009-09-29 Thread GemNEye
Taking the build from above and applying the latest updates renders the
desktop unusable. The gdm login screen is displayed, but the gnome
desktop is never displayed (system hangs after login sound; Ubuntu
spotlight screen never goes away.

I will try re-installing with the latest daily builds of Karmic Netbook
Remix to see if the experience is different. If the Gnome Desktop
works, but the network adapter is still not working with network
manager, I will try installing a Mainline kernel build and see if the
experience differs.

Thanks.
