We hear from upstream that a number of bugs (possibly including this one) have been fixed in the newer DRM code from the 2.6.33 kernel. I have a Lenovo Thinkpad SL500 with Intel VGA and I'm experiencing the same problem almost always if I restart karmic. The problem still occurs with the latest updates, but without blacklisting agpgart. Just recently saw another bug with an agpgart prolem: bug 430925. In that case it worked if th agpgart module was blacklisted. Could you try that and see what happens? That bug resolved itself with an update.
