[Bug 434599] Re: [kubuntu] filepicker doesn't show pictures / is strange
I am too experiencing the slowness. It does not eat up CPU or IO when this happens so it seems more to do with some scheduling related issue. Also when this happens, other (KDE?) programs too become unresponsive. -- [kubuntu] filepicker doesn't show pictures / is strange https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/434599 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 434599] Re: [kubuntu] filepicker doesn't show pictures / is strange
I changed the status to "Confirmed" because I am still having the problem of a very slow file picker on a fresh install of Lucid. I don't recall having this problem on Karmic. As a workaround, one can remove the KDE integration package: sudo apt-get -u remove openoffice.org-kde Obviously, a fix of the problem would be much nicer, but this at least allows one to get one's work done. ** Changed in: openoffice.org (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released => New ** Changed in: openoffice.org (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- [kubuntu] filepicker doesn't show pictures / is strange https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/434599 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 434599] Re: [kubuntu] filepicker doesn't show pictures / is strange
I have had exactly the same problem when using Kubuntu Karmic. Now after upgrading to Lucid, using the standard Ubuntu repository, the problem remains. After a reboot, images show up just fine, but after a couple of images inserted, the problem reappears and it is just painfully slow.

I've just realised there is still an error... When trying to save an embeded image out of a document, oo is crashing. I've tested under gnome with gnome integration : no problem. With kde : crash. [Bug 434599] Re: [kubuntu] filepicker doesn't show pictures / is strange
It is possible to display the graphics files by replacing the filter box contents with "*". Most of the time this will not actually let you insert the picture though; the error box "Unknown graphic format" is displayed after confirming the selection. In my most recent test this happens every time. In previous tests, it seemed that you would get to insert a picture once, the second and subsequent times you got "Unknown graphic format." I can confirm the other symptoms reported above. In summary: 1) Excessive times to display the file list 2) Inserting graphics fails with "unknown graphic format" 3) Graphics files not shown in the dialog There are also some other strange things with this dialog, such as it insisting on opening up in some .kde directory. Tested with a fully updated Karmic as of now. -- [kubuntu] filepicker doesn't show pictures / is strange https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/434599 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
