Of course the item can be edited with the menu editor (alacarte) - that is not the point. The installation of software-center removes and updates the Applications menu properly. I do not experience this, the menu item is removed correctly. Although *you* did not experience this, both myself and Dale Jefferson did. Dale was even kind enough to provide a screenshot. Would you like me to provide a screenshot as well? My karmic installation is a clean test machine install with all updates applied. Whilst you mention that this is a development release, the purpose of reporting a bug is so that the problem can be fixed, preferably *prior* to final release. NoOp: Sorry maybe I didn't explain what I meant: First of all in the next release (ie. the beta) software-store will not be installed at all. software-center will be and so none of these problems shall exist anyway. Second of all, development releases are said not be be squeaky clean that is why we only use them for testing, and so I don't see the problem if a menu item is left behind. Thanks for the added explanation. Given that the beta is scheduled for release in 3 days I'll look for a correction/fix there. However I still think it a good idea to figure out why the application installation failed to remove software-store from System|Administration - if nothing else to prevent a similar event happening with this (or other similar) application installations.
