Re: [Bug 440969] [NEW] Return sound back in 2.6.30

2009-10-05 Thread Luke Yelavich
I think you are better off letting the kernel team know about the PP
regression, and request that they either get the fix if there is one
available, or look out for the fix and get it into karmic ASAP.

2.6.30 is not a supported kernel version, so if you choose to use
2.6.30, we cannot certify that audio will work, i.e use 2.6.30 at your
own risk.

[Bug 440969] [NEW] Return sound back in 2.6.30

2009-10-02 Thread Joe_Bishop
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

So, 2.6.31 has horrible ppp regression, which makes it unusable for
everyone using PPP (for example, in Russia most ethernet providers use
VPN connections to share internet: pptp, pppoe, l2tp). Massive PPP
regressions decrease traffic speed through it in 6 times with the
comparison to 2.6.30. And I want to use 2.6.30, which hasn't these
terrible issues. But it's no sound there: alsa sees soundcards, but
pulse doesn't. Removing pulseaudio doesn't help. What can I do with it?

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: amd64
Date: Sat Oct  3 02:39:46 2009
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10
NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia
Package: pulseaudio (not installed)
ProcEnviron:
 LANG=en_US.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: pulseaudio
Uname: Linux 2.6.30-02063008-generic x86_64

** Affects: pulseaudio (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

Please use apport-collect -p alsa-base 440969.
