[Bug 442073] Re: [Karmic] Kernel Freeze during Boot on AMD64
Hi Steffen, This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux 442073 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. [This is an automated message. [Bug 442073] Re: [Karmic] Kernel Freeze during Boot on AMD64
I can boot with acpi=noirq, but it disables acpi-events, so e.g. the suspend button stops working, as well as the lid button (which means no suspend when I close the laptop lid). -- [Karmic] Kernel Freeze during Boot on AMD64 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442073 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 442073] Re: [Karmic] Kernel Freeze during Boot on AMD64
using acpi=noirq is a workaround for me to get the newer kernels booting up - everything seems to work fine with this setting. -- [Karmic] Kernel Freeze during Boot on AMD64 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442073 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 442073] Re: [Karmic] Kernel Freeze during Boot on AMD64
The problem still exists with linux- image-2.6.31-12-generic_2.6.31-12.39_amd64.deb Booting with acpi=off is a partial workaround: It stops at the console login and X wont start.
