I should have mentioned that the kernel recognizes the device, i.e. I can do sudo iwconfig wlan0 essid key by hand. However, trying to do the dhclient by hand never works. This might be a key ring issue. I can enable the wireless from the top bar; in doing so it asks me to create a keyring password. If I then try to use system / preferences / network connections to edit the network, it prompts me if I want to let the application use the keyring. If I allow it, then I can actually get a non-greyed-out apply button in the edit dialog for the wireless network connection. I can then check the check box for Allow all users and click apply. Hi Kalman, This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal).
