Nick - can you try linux-backports-modules-karmic-generic ? The Intel 5K driver code was fairly new with 2.6.31. unfortunately the problem still occurs. If so, can you try installing linux-backports-modules-wireless-karmic- generic and see if it helps? linux-backports-modules-wireless-karmic- generic contains an updated compat-wireless stack. I've grepped for wlan0 in /var/log/syslog. Here's a rough chronology: 1. Lost network for external reason, tries to reassociate. 2. Somehow n-m lost credentials. Not sure, really, probably worth filing another bug. Frustrated, I plugged in wired internet and upgrade to the current kernel. 3. Added credentials back, keep getting "disconnected by local choice". 4. A little fat-fingering of connection editing (who's that anonandon clown anyhow) 5.
