Nick - can you try linux-backports-modules-karmic-generic ? The Intel 5K
driver code was fairly new with 2.6.31. LBM is based on 2.6.32 stable.

[Bug 445425] Re: wireless no longer associates

2009-12-04 Thread Nick Moffitt
unfortunately the problem still occurs. I occasionally have to reload
the module to get it to properly connect:

sudo stop network-manager; sudo modprobe -r iwlagn; sudo modprobe
iwlagn; sudo start network-manager

A new modules package just came into karmic-proposed, so it's hard to
isolate things but at least the suggested package doesn't *break*
anything.

Hi Nick,

Can you comment if this is still and issue with Karmic final release?
If so, can you try installing linux-backports-modules-wireless-karmic-
generic and see if it helps? linux-backports-modules-wireless-karmic-
generic contains an updated compat-wireless stack. Please let us know
your results. Thanks!

[Bug 445425] Re: wireless no longer associates

2009-10-07 Thread Nick Moffitt
I've grepped for wlan0 in /var/log/syslog. Here's a rough chronology:

  1. Lost network for external reason, tries to reassociate.
  2. Somehow n-m lost credentials. Not sure, really, probably worth filing
another bug. Frustrated, I plugged in wired internet and upgrade to the
current kernel.
  3. Added credentials back, keep getting "disconnected by local choice".
  4. A little fat-fingering of connection editing (who's that anonandon clown
anyhow)
  5. I get *one* successful association, but DHCP times out (even though it
works for other computers, and works over the wired connection to the same
device).
