[Bug 457710] Re: touchpad creates noise in headphones
I disagree that this is an invalid bug. I have a dual-boot system and it worked perfectly fine on the Windows side (no static), and it also worked in Ubuntu 9.04 (the problem only started when I upgraded to 9.10). If it was a purely hardware issue then that behavior shouldn't be happening However, I upgraded to the 10.04 alpha and the problem seems to be resolved -- touchpad creates noise in headphones https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/457710 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 457710] Re: touchpad creates noise in headphones
hm, reading back to tweak42's comment #6, I think it may just be hardware thing that occurs when the sound card is in powersaving mode. -- touchpad creates noise in headphones https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/457710 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 457710] Re: touchpad creates noise in headphones
If it were purely hardware, then why would the issue not be present in previous issues of ubuntu? Clearly this is due to a software change. -- touchpad creates noise in headphones https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/457710 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I can also confirm this problem with dell d620 everything worked fine until upgrade to 9.10. -- touchpad creates noise in headphones https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/457710 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Yet another D630 user with the same problem. It was fine on Ubuntu before 9.10. I confirm this too, dell d630. I can confirm this on a D630 as well (same computer as adampewolff), and this didn't happen before upgrading to karmic, same behavior that juun described also -- touchpad creates noise in headphones https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/457710 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Yes, virtualbox shows up in the applications tab of sound preferences. As long is something is in that tab, we're more or less free from the static. Partially streaming a file in firefox also does this, since it evokes firefox's ALSA plug-in. I hear static in both channels, though. Re: [Bug 457710] Re: touchpad creates noise in headphones
I forget if I mentioned this, but I also am running Ubuntu on a Latitude D630. Juun-- go to sound preferences (right click on the volume applet in the panel) then the applications tab while virtualbox is running and see if it shows up there. [Bug 457710] Re: touchpad creates noise in headphones
I have the identical right channel clicking problem. In addition to unplug/plug the headphone jack, volume +/- and muting causes a faint pop and no problems for 10 secs, followed by another faint pop then the clicking resumes when using touchpad and laptop pointer nub. Muting does not stop the clicking. Running a application that produces a sound does stop it, but returns 10 secs after application is closed. I forgot to mention that if you unplug the headphone jack and plug it back in it stops for about 10 seconds and then starts again.
