Public bug reported: Filing new bug after request from Bug 409942.
I followed these instructions: http://monespaceperso.org/blog-en/2009/05/09/upgrade-alsa-1020-on-ubuntu-jaunty-904/ I am now running ALSA 1.0.21 cat /proc/asound/version: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.21. Compiled on Oct 21 2009 for kernel 2.6.27-14-generic (SMP). But still my sound card can not be detected. aplay -l aplay: device_list:223: no soundcards found... Already tried to manually compile the drivers, to use the alsa-base.conf suggested in bug 409942, and to use the "options snd-hda-intel model=Xstack" in it, with X from 1 to 8. sound was great before upgrading to jaunty. Note: I can not move to newer kernels because of Bug 449876.
