[Bug 459153] Re: Google Earth crash with Ubuntu 9.10 open source 3D Drivers ATI
Christoph, it seems that you are using the radeon driver and not radeonhd so if you get the same crash it is most likely a bug in the mesa driver which is used in both cases. The warning seen is definitely from mesa, but I am not sure if it is related to the crash. Can either of you try to get a backtrace (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash)? ** Package changed: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd (Ubuntu) = mesa (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: mesa (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete ** Summary changed: - Google Earth crash with Ubuntu 9.10 open source 3D Drivers ATI + [r300] Google Earth crashes on R580 -- [r300] Google Earth crashes on R580 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/459153 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 459153] Re: Google Earth crash with Ubuntu 9.10 open source 3D Drivers ATI
With normal vanilla Karmic i can´t use Google Earth with Ubuntus own open source ati-drivers. I think my card is not supported? When you mean the lag with opensource ati drivers. Well i can say that opening and closing windows is not so smooth, it is not a big problem for me. The 1-2 second lag is there with the fglrx driver, not with the open- source ati driver. [Bug 459153] Re: Google Earth crash with Ubuntu 9.10 open source 3D Drivers ATI
I was referring to this: I can confirm that when i use the 2d open- source ati driver with google earth it lags so much that i can´t use it. You have not said anything about what card you have nor attached Xorg.0.log so I can not say anything about it being supported or not. But in principle the -ati driver should support all cards that -radeonhd does. So we have chosen to officially support -ati and not -radeon since we don't have the resources to track both. -- Google Earth crash with Ubuntu 9.10 open source 3D Drivers ATI https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/459153 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 459153] Re: Google Earth crash with Ubuntu 9.10 open source 3D Drivers ATI
Thanks for your report. It is probably a bug in the open-source driver, but it is not so easy to debug the closed-source program triggering it. Does it happen if you use the default -ati driver (uninstall -radeonhd and remove xorg.conf)? [Bug 459153] Re: Google Earth crash with Ubuntu 9.10 open source 3D Drivers ATI
I hope this new information helps in some way. I can confirm that when i use the 2d open-source ati driver with google earth it lags so much that i can´t use it. And if you mean the ati fglrx driver, i can not use the fglrx driver on my laptop because of a 2 second lag with every window i open or close. And watching a movie with fglrx enabled is like like playing a blue-ray disc in a cd player, it won´t work. [Bug 459153] Re: Google Earth crash with Ubuntu 9.10 open source 3D Drivers ATI
It seems that you are using the xorg-edgers PPA. Do you see this issue with normal Karmic? We can leave this bug report for the crash with the radeonhd driver, but can you please open a new bug report for the lag with the open-source ati driver? Yes, I mean the open-source xserver-xorg-video-ati (with -radeon) driver. Please use ubuntu-bug xserver-xorg-video-ati to file it. -- Google Earth crash with Ubuntu 9.10 open source 3D Drivers ATI https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/459153 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
