[Bug 462170] Re: no sound

2010-03-26 Thread Brad Figg
Hi Ramon,

Please, if you are still having issues, test with the latest development
release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a
Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically
gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p alsa-base 462170

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds .

Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-
upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil
icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.

Please let us know your results.

Both timidity and sl-modem-daemon are culprits. Either deinstall them, or
configure them to not start.

2009-10-27 Thread Luke Yelavich
Please make sure you ahve the correct output profile, and output device
selected in the hardware tab and the output tab respectively, of the
volume control preferences. If you also have a karmic live CD handy,
please boot that and test to see whether you get sound output.

Thanks
