[Bug 466886] Re: "No network connection" when IPv6 is enabled in Network Manager
Closing as Fix Released; we've done tons of work on IPv6 in Oneiric and things should largely work. Any testing if of course more than welcome. The only issue I'm aware of that's left for now is setting the default route with static IP settings, but all of autoconfiguration and DHCPv6 appears to work properly. The other is due to be fixed incessantly :) ** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/466886 Title: "No network connection" when IPv6 is enabled in Network Manager To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/466886/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 466886] Re: "No network connection" when IPv6 is enabled in Network Manager
I have a similar problem. I am unable to connect to my wireless network when ipv6 is enabled. When I disable ipv6 I can gain a connection and then I can enable ipv6 afterwards. Affects network speeds when watching Hulu. -- "No network connection" when IPv6 is enabled in Network Manager https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/466886 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 466886] Re: "No network connection" when IPv6 is enabled in Network Manager
I am getting the same error here: I had IPv6 running on my network including to my laptop while running 9.04. After upgrading to 9.10, wireless would disconnect, saying that it couldn't get IPv6 config. This seemed to be mitigated when I changed the RADVD settings on the local network to transmit IPv6 config as often as permissible by the standard. However, today and yesterday I could not get a IP6 number from the radvd autoconfiguration. If the wireless interface has IPv6 settings set to "Automatic" that means the link is torn down a few seconds after IPv4 gets it's address from DHCP. This is despite the fact that I can see RADVDs IP6 configuration packets coming every 4 seconds (the minimum time I can configure it to). [Bug 466886] Re: "No network connection" when IPv6 is enabled in Network Manager
Please ignore this last comment. I actually have a bug (that I need to report) with ip6tables and state module which was blocking all icmpv6 packet and the autoconf.
Same thing for me. I would add that I have ipv6 working on my whole network except with the affected ubuntu karmic laptop. I mean even if ipv6 is available on the lan, network-manager still doesn't configure it (and stop ipv4 to be configured).
** Description changed: Binary package hint: network-manager + + As opposed to #435073, this is when IPv6 is set to 'Automatic' manually, + rather than what happens during/after an upgrade from Jaunty. If IPv6 is enabled in Network Manager and set to Auto the Network Manager icon will say "no network connection" and applications that check it to find out if there is an Internet connection (Pidgin, Ubuntu One) will refuse to connect even though there is a valid IPv4 connection available. In addition, on boot the system will not obtain an IPv4 address until dhclient is run manually. After manually running dhclient I can browse through Swiftweasle and ping hosts, so I know the connection is good, however Network Manager still says "no network connection."
