[Bug 467223] Re: Unable to stop drive

2011-04-17 Thread xoristzatziki
Same to me.

text in window with error (Greek error description on window. Very
carefully copied and double checked from window):

Αδυναμία διακοπής οδηγού
Error detaching: helper exited with exit code 1: Detaching
device /dev/sdc
USB device: /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1.3
SYNCHRONIZE CACHE: FAILED: No such file or directory
(Continuing despite SYNCHRONIZE CACHE failure.)
STOP UNIT: FAILED: No such file or directory

Maybe the name of device " /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1.3"
is the problem.
Or the "order" of commands removing the filename, leading to "no such file" ...
Also ntfs disk.
Below are outputs from some commands:

>uname -a; lsb_release -a

[Bug 467223] Re: Unable to stop drive

2010-11-04 Thread Rik
Same to me.
Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit
HD 320 GB (ST332082) via USB. FS:NTFS

Unable to stop drive
Error detaching: helper exited with exit code 1: Detaching device /dev/sdh
USB device: /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb2/2-1/2-1.4)
SYNCHRONIZE CACHE: FAILED: No such file or directory
(Continuing despite SYNCHRONIZE CACHE failure.)
STOP UNIT: FAILED: No such file or directory

The same problem doesn't happen with others USB HD (at least not NTFS).
Maybe a NTFS problem?

It also happens with Maverick final. I only tried with a Kingston

Here's what the dialog window shows:

[Bug 467223] Re: Unable to stop drive

2010-09-08 Thread Glome
I just tested this with Maverick (10.10) beta and the bug is still
present.

When selecting "Safely Remove Drive" for the Maxtor drive I get a dialog
with an error message:

Error Detaching: helper exited with exit code 1: Detaching device /dev/sdb
USB device: /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb2/2-2)
SYNCHRONIZE CACHE: OK
STOP UNIT: FAILED: No such file or directory

The Iomega Select Desktop Hard Drive still works fine so the problem
only exists with the Maxtor drive.

I don't know about Lucid, but it is still present with the Karmic.

I want add that this only happens with the Maxtor drive. I also have 1TB
