[Bug 468422] Re: Installed 9.10, system hung when I tried to install Broadcom driver.

2010-04-22 Thread Jeremy Foshee
Hi Mik,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it
recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the
latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach
updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 468422

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be
great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.
Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be
done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the
bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.
Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 468422] Re: Installed 9.10, system hung when I tried to install Broadcom driver.

2009-12-08 Thread dhaus
I'm having a similar problem. I'm using broadcom 4328 rev 03
(14e4:4328) on a fresh install on my dell m1530. After manually
installing b43-fwcutter i managed to get Hardware Drivers to cooperate
and acknowledge the install and activate the driver. I get a listing of
wireless networks but soon after I get a kernel panic and a hard lockup.
On my first attempted fresh install after a few of those kernel panics,
it actually stopped booting. It gave me a VFS something-rather kernel
panic that I mistook for filesystem damage and just resorted to a
reformat. I've installed the bcmwl-kernel-source package and
reinstalled it several times, rebooted. Might be resorting to
Ndiswrapper here soon, but I really don't want to have to do that. I'm
open to suggestions, but at least wanted to speak up about this problem.

[Bug 468422] Re: Installed 9.10, system hung when I tried to install Broadcom driver.

2009-11-05 Thread Norbert Schultz
On my Macbook 3,1 I also had a hard lockup after installing the broadcom
STA driver. Although rebooting seems to work and I can use wifi right
now.

Tested it two times; hard lock during installation, hard lock during
LiveCD usage.
