This is currently preventing upgrades in some situations on karmic, requiring the user to know how to work around it. I've back-ported the changes in control file for karmic. This was built in my ppa and successfully allowed me to continue my dist-upgrade. Thanks for your report. There is a conflict between libmp3lame0 and liblame0 which is not provided with ubuntu since intrepid. The workaround is to remove liblame0 before installing libmp3lame0. There should probably be a replace rule between both packages. I'll let the devs handle it from here.
