Hi tomikles, Please, if you are still having issues, test with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p alsa-base 472504 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. Hi Steve, during the update a lot of old linux kernels were dicarded from the 64 Bit system. I do have a dual boot between 32 Bit and 64 Bit ubuntu (64 Bit updated, 32 Bit fallback, installed after the 64 Bit System) The first boot options are various kernel version of the 32 bit system, then memtest and finally the 64 Bit options start. Even earlier, I still had a Windows partition. uname -a Linux 4TV 2.6.28-15-generic #49-Ubuntu SMP Tue Aug 18 19:25:34 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux Thus, I do not have 2.6.32 something as Brad mentioned in #5. Time for a re- install or have you still got any ideas? Hello and thanks for your time. - I was prompted and did reboot, but not immediately. I turned the system off (with the appropriate command) in between, then switched it back on I did letz the system overwrite the /boot/grub/menu.lst. I do not have a boot/grub/menu.lst~ on my system. I'm attaching my boot/grub/menu.lst. Please note that this is the 9.04 kernel, not the 9.10 kernel. Were you prompted to reboot after upgrade? Have you done so? If you have rebooted and the 9.04 kernel is still the one running, were you prompted during the upgrade about whether to keep changes to /boot/grub/menu.lst vs. letting the system overwrite this file?
