[Bug 475063] Re: ubuntu crashes after laptop unplug
Twice in two days I've unplugged and moved my laptop. Each time the screen went black, the on' button flashed steadily, and the laptop wouldn't respond to the keyboard. I used the 'on/off' button and restart was perfectly successful. [Bug 475063] Re: ubuntu crashes after laptop unplug
Hi Fernando, So this has happened only the one time? Have you tried to reproduce at all? I do see the following in your CurrentDmesg.txt file: [ 102.400352] powernow-k8: Hardware error - pending bit very stuck - no further pstate changes possible [ 102.400359] powernow-k8: transition frequency failed [ 102.540014] powernow-k8: failing targ, change pending bit set I'd be curious to know if there are any other errors that may have been captured in /var/log/kern.log.0 after this happened. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- ubuntu crashes after laptop unplug https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/475063 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 475063] Re: ubuntu crashes after laptop unplug
I actually have it working now, it just took a while to boot after the crash. I still am unable to unplug or plug the laptop in during the session. It's either plugged in or it's not, if that changes the whole crash starts over again(found out today). The whole powernow-k8 thing is normal to me...It happens all the time in both computers I have Ubuntu installed on. It will show that message while shutting down, logging off, but it never affects the process of doing so. I Googled it one day out of aggravation and wasn't able to get much out of it. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I am running Ubuntu Karmic Koala(the powernow error happened in 9.04 also). -Fernando -- ubuntu crashes after laptop unplug https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/475063 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
