Hello Tomas When you try to install and system freeze, can you switch to a console ( Ctrl+Alt+F1)? Hi Fabio, Yes it still does exist. The funny thing is that I do get halfway switching off all kind of facilities (APIC) that are supported by the MB. The only thing I still want to do is call Intel directly -they say the MB worked with Ubuntu 8.04 LTS- and find out what configuration they used. ebox_installer-1.4-1.iso ubuntu-9.10-alternate-i386.iso ubuntu-9.10-desktop-i386.iso ubuntu-9.10-server-amd64.iso ubuntu-9.10-server-i386.iso ubuntu-10.04-desktop-i386.iso ubuntu-10.04-server-i386.iso Also tries an even older 8.04 LTS desktop verzion. I did the hash check on the last two only, but will download and check md5sum on the latest Lucid version shortly. Hi Fabio, Saw you changed status of the issue to incomplete. What additional information can I provide you? Issue still persists, I still have the MB mentioned above, but HDDs have now been installed in ready to use NAS RAID configuration, so reproducing/testing different scenarios will be difficult. However the problem also occurred when I ran Karmic from a LIVE CD or USB key. Tried it again using the Alternate CD, but without any luck. Now did do some formatting (not the whole disk, but a 100Gb /home), to result in a failure to load the kernel. Still using NOLAPIC. Read something on LVM and tried to set this up, but this resulted in a very strange partition table (afaics). With LVM setup, the progress stopped after 33% formatting was complete. By the way, the MB's chipset is 945GSE Express and not the quoted i945.
