[Bug 476621] Re: ModemManager segfaults with Sierra Modems

2010-07-28 Thread Andreas Schulte
I have also a MC8780 Umts card. It works under windows like a charm and
under ubuntu it works too, but not with modemmanager/network manager.

In the attachement u can see a logfile. I hope it helps someone to solve
the problem.

[Bug 476621] Re: ModemManager segfaults with Sierra Modems

2009-12-04 Thread Bruce Wolfe
As of today - Sat Dec 5 - after the latest Kernel update and NM update
from PPA trunk I don't seem to be getting segfaults any more. Not sure
precisely when the segfaults stopped as I haven't tried NM (been using
CLI pon) for about the last 3-4 days.

However I am still unable to connect via NM as it appears to be using
ttyUSB2 instead of ttyUSB0 to try and connect. Not sure if this is the
fault of the Sierra driver or NM - and I am not sure if modifying a
config file is all it would take to fix it. CLI pon is still working in
the meantime.

[Bug 476621] Re: ModemManager segfaults with Sierra Modems

2009-11-29 Thread Bruce Wolfe
Since my last test I have found that the reason I was not able to use
the connection is that the /etc/resolve.conf was not pointing at my DNS
servers - once fixed I was able to connect and use the connection (using
it now!). But Modem Manager is still segfaulting and I am still
downloading the most recent updates to test with.

[Bug 476621] Re: ModemManager segfaults with Sierra Modems

2009-11-20 Thread Bruce Wolfe
OK - I have just tried using pppd and the instructions on the Sierra
site for GSM. Some success.

It successfully dials out and connects - it appears to get an internal
IP of 119.12.150.51/255.255.255.255 which is the same address I get via
Windows. However it gets an external IP address (P-to-P) of 10.64.64.64
and does not seem to set up the routing table correctly, consequently I
can't use the connection properly (read mail/firefox etc).

It does seem to detect the correct DNS servers as well - I can even ping
them. My command line usage of network setup starts to fall away
dramatically at this point so can't set the routing table or fix the
problem manually - although it looks like it may(??) be possible. Tried
a few example 'route add' commands that I have seen used elsewhere
without joy.

Definitely appears to be an issue with network manager though.

I can provide more logs and output if requested.

Sorry Sierra driver version should have been 1.7.12 not 1.7.2
