[Bug 477130] Re: [Hewlett-Packard Pavilion dv8000 suspend/resume failure
Hi Robert, This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux 477130 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. [This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.] ** Tags added: kernel-suspend ** Tags added: needs-kernel-logs ** Tags added: needs-upstream-testing ** Tags added: kj-triage ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- [Hewlett-Packard Pavilion dv8000 suspend/resume failure https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/477130 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 477130] Re: [Hewlett-Packard Pavilion dv8000 suspend/resume failure
Jeremy, Thank you for asking! This problem does indeed still exist in a running and update version of Kubuntu, Lucid. My workaround is to add two items to grub. They are - radeon.modeset=0 noapic Doing this, I can suspend and resume fine, but plymouth looks bad. I will test the upstream kernel, and report back. Is a test using Kubuntu sufficient, or, do you need it done with official Ubuntu? Robert -- Robert's Desktop Machine Ubuntu Linux 9.10 64 bit. Evolution Email client. Robert, Kubuntu should be perfectly fine to test with. They all have the same plumbing. :-) Thanks! ~JFo -- [Hewlett-Packard Pavilion dv8000 suspend/resume failure https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/477130 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 477130] Re: [Hewlett-Packard Pavilion dv8000 suspend/resume failure
Ok. It still does not work without the modifications to grub. The system does not resume from sleep, has a black screen, and upon a full reboot, networking is disabled. Adding the lines back to grub allows all to work fine. ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Computer does not resume from suspend, or hibernate properly. The backlight comes on, then goes dim. Also, the wifi light does not come on. Changing the boot parameters to nosplash nomodeset. Upon doing this, it worked. Then, about two days later, and a few updates, it no longer worked. Booting to the live CD suspends to RAM perfectly. ProblemType: KernelOops Annotation: This occured during a previous suspend and prevented it from resuming properly. Could you clarify how to do this? I'm having the same issue, and have been Googling around to figure out how to do what you said. I know how to add a PPA repository, but don't know what these PPA's would be called. -- [Hewlett-Packard Pavilion dv8000 suspend/resume failure https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/477130 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Jugney, Please see this link. This issue has been solved by installing the radeon and ATI driver from the Jaunty PPA, instead of the one in the Karmic release. -- [Hewlett-Packard Pavilion dv8000 suspend/resume failure https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/477130 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
