[Bug 482698] Re: Proprietary nvidia drivers fail to set resolution size properly on geforce4 chipset - monitor has 0mm x 0mm
We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help. ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482698 Title: Proprietary nvidia drivers fail to set resolution size properly on geforce4 chipset - monitor has 0mm x 0mm -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 482698] Re: Proprietary nvidia drivers fail to set resolution size properly on geforce4 chipset - monitor has 0mm x 0mm
This bug report was filed against an old version of Ubuntu. Can you confirm whether this is still an issue in natty? If you don't mind, it would be very helpful if you could update the bug report in launchpad to 'Fix Released' if it is no longer an issue for you, or if it is still occurring under natty, please tag the bug 'natty' so it's easier for us to track. ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482698 Title: Proprietary nvidia drivers fail to set resolution size properly on geforce4 chipset - monitor has 0mm x 0mm -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 482698] Re: Proprietary nvidia drivers fail to set resolution size properly on geforce4 chipset - monitor has 0mm x 0mm
Seems not to be detecting your monitor's physical dimensions correctly: default connected 1024x768+0+0 (0x1ae) normal (normal) 0mm x 0mm Perhaps it can be quirked around in the xserver. Please gather the edid information (see http://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/ for guidance.) ** Summary changed: - Proprietary nvidia drivers fail to set resolution size properly on geforce4 chipset + Proprietary nvidia drivers fail to set resolution size properly on geforce4 chipset - monitor has 0mm x 0mm -- Proprietary nvidia drivers fail to set resolution size properly on geforce4 chipset - monitor has 0mm x 0mm https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482698 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 482698] Re: Proprietary nvidia drivers fail to set resolution size properly on geforce4 chipset
Brett, try moving your xorg.conf to xorg.conf.bak (or something similar) and see if that will give you the options that you like. I had to do that once, and then it worked fine. -- Proprietary nvidia drivers fail to set resolution size properly on geforce4 chipset https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/482698 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 482698] Re: Proprietary nvidia drivers fail to set resolution size properly on geforce4 chipset
** Attachment added: "xorg.conf" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/35690064/xorg.conf ** Description changed: This is the same computer in the bug https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics- drivers-96/+bug/332048 except, but I am filing a new report because it is now the 185 driver, not 96 and Ubuntu 9.10 instead of 8.10. + + The display is 1024x768 when I know my LCD monitor can display 1280x1024 + (I've been using it for years). Plus, the display was 1280x1024 when it + was using the free/open nvidia driver prior to the proprietary one. So it seems that this problem is still not fixed. Now I know this is a proprietary driver and you guys can not fix it, but I hope by reporting it I'm helping make the developers aware of the problem...
