[Bug 489313] Re: Acroread crashes when trying to modify printer settings
I have the same Problem on my karmic desktopPC with my network printers. Acroread (9.3.1 02/04/2010) always crashes when I try to modify printer settings. On my netbook with Intrepid the same acroread-version works fine and I am able to change the printer settings. I copied the working acroread installation and the .adobe directory from my netbook to the desktop, but on the desktop even this version crashed while changing the printer settings. [Bug 489313] Re: Acroread crashes when trying to modify printer settings
I'm gonna the debug, but before I'd like to relate something amazing : The reported bug happens when I try to modify the settings of my printer, when it's plugged on USB Port. But sometimes, I use it also through my Internet Provider modem/router, using it as a printer server. And when I print using this way, there is no problem to edit the printer's settings, all is working perfectly. -- Acroread crashes when trying to modify printer settings https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/489313 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

You can try the following to get some debug info. Type the following command on the shell: export ACRO_PRINT_DEBUG=1 Then try carrying out priting operations where you are finding trouble. [Bug 489313] Re: Acroread crashes when trying to modify printer settings
The "Printer Properties" button is completely unresponsive for me. I can click it all I want, but it does nothing at all. Nothing crashes or freezes. It just acts like I never clicked it. I'm currently using the package from the ubuntu repositories, though I had also been using versions 9.1 and 9.2 that I had downloaded as .bin files from adobe's website. Until last night I was using the .bin installation file from adobe for version 9.1. I believe I installed that before I upgraded to Karmic. I know I've been able to use the "Printer Properties" button since I upgraded. But last night was when I first noticed that the button wouldn't work. So I checked to see if there was a newer version, and downloaded the 9.2 bin file, and installed it. The button still did nothing. Then after discovering that there was an acroread package in the ubuntu respositories, I uninstalled all copies of adobe reader that I found on my machine (9.2 and also an 8.x version that I think was installed a while back from a deb file I downloaded from adobe), and installed the acroread from the ubuntu repositories. But the "Printer Properties" button remains unresponsive. Running it from a terminal provides no debug information or anything. It seems that it's related to something else on the system, since my adobe reader 9.1 hadn't been updated at all for a long time, but the button stopped working recently anyway. No difference after upgrading or switching to the ubuntu repository version. I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 i386. My other machine that runs Ubuntu 9.10 amd64 is working fine so far, but I haven't done updates in a couple days. After I get some printing done from that machine (since the button still works and I can switch it to draft mode and grayscale), I'll run the updates and see if the button still works or not (I think I still need to switch that one to the acroread version from the ubuntu repositories, though, too). -- Acroread crashes when trying to modify printer settings https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/489313 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
