[Bug 491205] Re: Upgrading to Karmic breaks printing for Canon UFRII printers with canon drivers MF4140 etc
Hello Mat, Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with cups. You made this bug report some time ago and Ubuntu and cups have been updated since then. Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket? If it is still a problem, are you still interested in finding a solution to this bug? If you are, could you let us know and, in the current version, could you run the following (only once): apport-collect 491205 and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue. Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and cups better. [Bug 491205] Re: Upgrading to Karmic breaks printing for Canon UFRII printers with canon drivers MF4140 etc
I have the same here with a NEC P60 printer connected by parallel-usb- adaptor. Will there be a substitution for HAL in the future? udev, device-kit or whatever? -- Upgrading to Karmic breaks printing for Canon UFRII printers with canon drivers MF4140 etc https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/491205 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 491205] Re: Upgrading to Karmic breaks printing for Canon UFRII printers with canon drivers MF4140 etc
Stefan K., HAL is deprecated, the replacement is UDEV and the UDEV script to automatically set up printers is in the system-config-printer- udev package.
Thats strange... solved this issue by installing libcupsys2 from _debian_ package: # dpkg -i libcupsys2_1.3.9-17ubuntu3.4_all.deb then just installed .deb's for drivers and it works ok. what's the catch?..
Confirmed for me too, on karmic kubuntu (dist-upgraded from 9.04, where I'd previously got the Canon MP600 USB working using instructions from http://mp610.blogspot.com/2007/11/setup-canon-pixma-mp600-or- mp610.html). However, using dpkg -i --force-all leaves apt confused (because hal- cups-utils conflicts with its replacement, system-config-printer-udev). Instead I removed system-config-printer-{udev,common,kde,gnome), then could dpkg -i without --force-all. -- Upgrading to Karmic breaks printing for Canon UFRII printers with canon drivers MF4140 etc https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/491205 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I can confirm this problem and that the fix works for an ancient parallel port Canon LBP4sx that is connected via a USB/parallel port adaptor. -- Upgrading to Karmic breaks printing for Canon UFRII printers with canon drivers MF4140 etc https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/491205 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
