There is no upgrade bug. Don't reopen this one if you have driver
issues.. File a new one instead. Note that fglrx/nvidia don't work yet,
and that's normal for a devel release like lucid alpha1.

Have done a new install very carefully and still ran unto video
problems. was able to get x up and running. Had to reconfigure video
resolution. I am running but dist.upgrade is still not right. Thanks for
help.

or since you already had dist-upgrade remove most of the packages make
sure to install 'xserver-xorg' and 'xserver-xorg-video-all'.
