[Bug 495400] Re: acer-wmi high cpu load and system freeze on modprobe acer-wmi
Hi moboticdes, This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux 495400 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. [This is an automated message. [Bug 495400] Re: acer-wmi high cpu load and system freeze on modprobe acer-wmi
I reinstalled ubuntu and didn't update any package be sure there wasn't any packet update which messed the driver. After some days again the same problem, now I realized it is due to conflict with pppoe automatic start I have to use with the wireless modem at office (it needs pppoe authentication). I also noticed it happens when: pppd starts connecting at boot, the acerwmi is loaded after pppd and the ath5k is actually the driver which starts filling the cpu. an rmmod ath5k stops the hanging (and the wirelss as well obsiously), also preventing ppp connections starting at boot prevents the hanging. -- acer-wmi high cpu load and system freeze on modprobe acer-wmi https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/495400 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
