[Bug 49876] Re: Clicking "Synchronize Now" in Time and Date Settings causes ubuntu to stop responding
well, with the patch when the clock is adjusted backwards everything works except that I can not change window fucus. But since I can now enter things into a terminal I can then restart openbox (using 'openbox --replace' since I'm runnig gnome) and that clears things up immediately. So that's an anoyance, but at least it doesn't kill my system. I wonder if there would be a way to have openbox automatically restart when the system clock is adjusted. . . -- Clicking "Synchronize Now" in Time and Date Settings causes ubuntu to stop responding https://launchpad.net/bugs/49876 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

yes those are simiilar (in fact I filed a bug report there and it was marked as a duplicate of 908). [Bug 49876] Re: Clicking "Synchronize Now" in Time and Date Settings causes ubuntu to stop responding
Confirming this bug. I am running only Openbox, and setting the date even a couple of seconds back instantly causes the described unresponsiveness (mouse moves, applications update the screen normally, but clicks and keys do nothing). There is a way to avoid the power- cycle: Hit Alt+SysRq+R, then Alt+F1. (SysRq is usually the same as PrintScreen, Alt+SysRq+R gives Linux raw control of the keyboard, which takes it away from X) This is a really annoying bug... my system clock changes every time I wake up my computer from sleep (system clock syncs with hardware clock). -- Clicking "Synchronize Now" in Time and Date Settings causes ubuntu to stop responding https://launchpad.net/bugs/49876 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I don't think it does composite management but I'm not certain. -- Clicking "Synchronize Now" in Time and Date Settings causes ubuntu to stop responding https://launchpad.net/bugs/49876 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 49876] Re: Clicking "Synchronize Now" in Time and Date Settings causes ubuntu to stop responding
reassigning to openbox, might be the screen locking which doesn't work. Does openbox do composite management? ** Changed in: gnome-system-tools (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: gnome-system-tools => openbox Status: Needs Info => Unconfirmed -- Clicking "Synchronize Now" in Time and Date Settings causes ubuntu to stop responding https://launchpad.net/bugs/49876 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 49876] Re: Clicking "Synchronize Now" in Time and Date Settings causes ubuntu to stop responding
yes, it still appears to be an issue, however with edgy I have to go to System->Administration->Date and Time, and then the syncronize now button seems to have no effect (doesn't update the clock for some reason), but if I manually adjust the time, the same lockup occurs and I have to power cycle the computer. Again, this is running the OpenBox window manager; I haven't checked, but I'm betting it's not a problem when running metacity, so it's really a bug in openbox when the system clock changes. -- Clicking "Synchronize Now" in Time and Date Settings causes ubuntu to stop responding https://launchpad.net/bugs/49876 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 49876] Re: Clicking "Synchronize Now" in Time and Date Settings causes ubuntu to stop responding
Ok, I just tested this again, but switching back to the metacity window manager (both boxes I was testing before used openbox), and it did not have the problem. So this appears to be specific to the Time and Date Settings window in openbox. -- Clicking "Synchronize Now" in Time and Date Settings causes ubuntu to stop responding https://launchpad.net/bugs/49876 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
