Hi Neil, If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. As this is an output detection issue when running with kernel modesetting, since the kernel is now in charge of setting up and managing the video outputs, I'm bumping this over to the kernel team. Removing the HDMI cable still fails to cause a reconfiguration. The second screen stays active until you use Monitor preferences which then detects the change. 'Apply' then switches the second screen off.
