[Bug 501006] Re: Huawei USB modem intermittently not detected: loop of "deferring support check"

2013-12-16 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Eduard Grebe, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p linux

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily
folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow
additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you
tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc4

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

[Bug 501006] Re: Huawei USB modem intermittently not detected: loop of "deferring support check"

2011-01-20 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

Also, please do not add new "me too" comments. It is sufficient to click
the "This bug affects..." link at the top of the page.

[Bug 501006] Re: Huawei USB modem intermittently not detected: loop of "deferring support check"

2010-08-16 Thread Luca Mina
Me too with Huawei e270 on Ubuntu Lucid, after I plug in it start
infinitely with this loop:

Aug 16 22:09:47 ubuntu modem-manager: (ttyUSB0): re-checking support...
Aug 16 22:09:47 ubuntu modem-manager: (Huawei): (ttyUSB0) deferring support
check
Aug 16 22:09:50 ubuntu modem-manager: (ttyUSB0): re-checking support...
Aug 16 22:09:50 ubuntu modem-manager: (Huawei): (ttyUSB0) deferring support
check

I can see ttyUSB port only if I give:

sudo killall modem-manager

Also same here.

Huawei E1820 and fresh install with 10.04.

I use wvdial for the connection, so no idea about network manager problems..

[Bug 501006] Re: Huawei USB modem intermittently not detected: loop of "deferring support check"

2010-08-01 Thread Masurao
Same here. Huawei E1550 (E620) on Lucid.

I think this is a bug in the modem-manager. So as not to reboot each
time the modem disappears, I wrote a little script:

#!/bin/sh

gksudo killall modem-manager

Once the process of modem-manager killed, network-manager restores it and
everything is OK: modem is detected.

Same here (Ubuntu Lucid). Sometimes detected properly, sometimes not,
and loops all the time with the "deferring support check".
