Usually, the lack of video is do to a lack of codecs. Can these videos run just fine on vlc or mplayer? vlc affects it the same way as gxine does. Videos run fine in gxine and vlc. They also run fine in totem _if_ I have gxine _or_ vlc running in the background. Starting totem in the terminal and pasting the output might be helpful. No output from totem when starting from terminal. gstreamer-properties: Autodetect does not work.
