Would you mind reassigning this to metacity? This is the banshee fade effect. I've attached a screenshot of the fade in progress (this happens right after mouseover of the icon). Unfortunately I just noticed this also happens in firefox on twitter when messages fade in, so it appears it's actually non-banshee specific.
