[Bug 50981] Re: Palm synchronization unreliable

2006-08-14 Thread Anita
I wonder if there was something upgraded that caused the problem,
because I cannot sync with Zire 31 after installing Dapper this weekend.

I was using pilot-xfer and jpilot on Debian/Sarge, kernel 2.8.6. I had
a line in the udev rules for it. I checked the source for visor which
said the ID is 61. I did this, because in the past I had to modify the
source and recompile visor.

I am using the same line from the udev rule I had on Debian. I checked
with udevinfo and found that the the device is using the same thing that
/dev/pilot is linking to (/dev/ttyUSB1) I checked the visor source code
in the 2.6.15-26 kernel and it is also showing the ID as 61. I do
notice that /dev/pilot and the visor module are not present until I hit
Hotsync. I think this used to occur when I simply plugged the device
in. I get the error message that I need to tap Hotsync even though I
already have. Cancel and repeat the Hotsync which had occasionally been
necessary in Debian, but that doesn't help.

I'm not using gnome-pilot, but just pilot-xfer; so the problem seems to
be not with gnome-pilot. Where should this bug be filed?

[Bug 50981] Re: Palm synchronization unreliable

2006-09-17 Thread Ryan Rawdon
I believe this information is related to this bug:

When I start gpilotd manually in a terminal, it runs fine and I never
have a problem syncing. When it is started by opening the app at System
--> Preferences --> PalmOS devices, it syncs fine until I close that
window. Once I close that window, gpilotd crashes on the next sync
attempt and must be killed with -9, then restarted.

When it is started by that GUI app, the process info is:
ryan 5530 0.2 2.1 68136 10924 ?Sl 02:38 0:00
/usr/bin/gpilotd --oaf-activate-iid=OAFIID:GNOME_Pilot_Daemon --oaf-ior-fd=51

If I start it manually with gpilotd --oaf-activate-
iid=OAFIID:GNOME_Pilot_Daemon --oaf-ior-fd=51, it still works fine... so
I guess all I can contribute is that gpilotd crashes when it is started
via the GUI and the GUI is closed when a sync attempt is made.

[Bug 50981] Re: Palm synchronization unreliable

2006-09-29 Thread thomas constans
the machine i discovered the bug on is actually not available anylonger

i am actually working on an older ubuntu system, where synchronisation
is working.

i'll upgrade to dapper and see if i can reproduce the bug, but i won't
be able to do it really soon.
