Update: I tried to run the Beta live cd without the nomodeset argument,
and this time the graphics worked anyway.

[Bug 512010] Re: Lucid needs to be run in safe graphics mode on a Radeon Mobility U1 card

2010-03-19 Thread Bryce Harrington
Hi, nomodeset is a workaround, not really a good solution. But we can't
do anything more with this bug report without the additional information
requested, so I'm going to mark it closed as expired at this time. If
you still want the bug investigated, please run the apport command and
reopen the bug report and we can take a look.

I tried running apport-collect 512010, and it gives me a dialog No
additional information collected This is off the Lucid beta live CD.

Update: I tried to give the kernel argument nomodeset on a Lucid live
CD, and the display loaded fine. (it worked without me supplying the
xforcevesa argument)

Apport doesn't seem to be working for me (It dumps some python errors
when I try to submit it). Is there another way for me to attach the
info?

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command in a terminal after
reproducing the issue, and it it will automatically gather debugging
information needed for this bug:

  apport-collect 512010

(You may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the
universe repository. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect
permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability
to Change Non-Private data as it will be adding information to your
bug report.)

2010-01-24 Thread Adil Arif
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Judging from your description, I am going to assign this
bug to the xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd package in hopes that it will
have a faster response. If you believe that I have chosen the wrong
package, please change your bug to the correct one. Good luck on getting
it fixed!
