We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time. Do you still see a problem related to the one that you reported when using a currently supported version of Ubuntu? Please let us know if you do otherwise this report can be left to expire in approximately 60 days time. Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better. [Bug 513985] Re: the word selection fails sometimes, and it appears word selected where there are not supposed to be.
The problem is still there. I´m using evince 2.29.91 on lucid alpha3. Evince has serious problems to properly select text. Okular (KDE) can handle this without mistakes and also allow highlighting and adding notes. -- the word selection fails sometimes, and it appears word selected where there are not supposed to be. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/513985 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Could it be that it is fixed in Karmic? I am running Jaunty Mint. I get this problem consistently in all multi column PDFs, it was driving me crazy, or rather driving me to okular :( -- the word selection fails sometimes, and it appears word selected where there are not supposed to be. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/513985 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@zyodei - I can't reproduce your issue on Karmic. See attached screenshot. Uname: Linux 2.6.31-17-generic i686 Package: evince 2.28.1-0ubuntu1.2 ** Attachment added: selection.png http://launchpadlibrarian.net/38665232/selection.png -- the word selection fails sometimes, and it appears word selected where there are not supposed to be. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/513985 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 513985] Re: the word selection fails sometimes, and it appears word selected where there are not supposed to be.
I don't know if this is the right bug to report in, but it wasn't quite the same as any other bugs (although similar). If I have a multi-column document, and I try and select ONE WORD, it fail. It selects the whole page as soon as I start any text selection operation! This is a BIG problem for me, I need to copy and paste from PDFs all the time, and at present this functionality is 100% broken in evince. I may have to switch to Linux Acrobat, yuck. For instance, this PDF: http://www.hyosungsource.com/catalogs/GT250_Parts_Catalogue.pdf Go down to one of the pages with many parts listed. Try and select just one element from any column. It immediately selects all of the columns except the one you are on. This produces a useless result. -- the word selection fails sometimes, and it appears word selected where there are not supposed to be. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/513985 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 513985] Re: the word selection fails sometimes, and it appears word selected where there are not supposed to be.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). 4. could you also take an screenshot of the issue?
